Tebuireng.online- SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim Tebuireng held a ta’aruf (introduction) meeting of the school principal and homeroom teacher with the new student guardians in the school hall area, Jombang, East Java, Saturday (04/07/2026). This face-to-face forum is optimized to build collective commitment and equalize perceptions in monitoring student growth and development.
The head of SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim, David Sugiarto, S.Pd., M.Sc., emphasized that the success of the student forging process at vocational schools requires active involvement from the family ecosystem. The school cannot run alone without the synergy of parents as one of the child’s authority figures.
“As authority figures, both parents and teachers, we must work together. Schools cannot guide your sons and daughters alone. School programs will only be realized if there is cooperation between schools, parents and the community,” he said.
David explained that the orientation of SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim is now no longer limited to sharpening academic abilities and mastering vocational (vocational) skills. Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, the school is launching progressive steps by strengthening the Child-Friendly School program which focuses on mitigating the mental health of students and psychological assistance for parents.
This step was taken to create a dormitory learning space that is safe, emotionally healthy and adaptive to the pressures of the times. The school aims to ensure that graduates not only master industrial technical skills, but also have mental resilience and a strong moral foundation.
“Starting this year, we are also paying attention to children’s mental needs and the psychological needs of parents by strengthening child-friendly school programs. We want the students to not only have good academic and non-academic skills, but also grow up with strong character, good morals, and ready to face future challenges,” explained David.
On the other hand, the composition of the motivation of new santri guardians who choose SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim shows that there is a concrete need for integration of work independence and religious depth. The Islamic boarding school environment is considered to be the best protection for protecting children’s relationships in the modern era.
Sri Wujianti, a santri guardian from Bekasi, said that the decision to choose a pure vocational path came from the initiative of his son, Kaka Naufal Susilo Wardhana, who wanted to hone specific skills according to his interests. As a mother, she provides full support for this aspect of practical skills while hoping that her child will receive the blessing of knowledge at the Islamic boarding school.
Meanwhile, Suwandi, a santri guardian from Gresik, hopes that his son can study classical Islamic literacy in addition to receiving formal vocational education.
“From the start, my child was already in school and wanted to continue to Tebuireng because he wanted to study the yellow book. From the parent’s side, I also want to separate the child from bad social groups so that he can be more protected. My hope is simple, I hope the child will have good morals and be proficient in studying the yellow book,” said Suwandi.
At the end of the face-to-face agenda, school management reminded all new students to make optimal use of their study time at Tebuireng. The school underlines that vocational skill intelligence must go hand in hand with ethical nobility so that the knowledge produced brings benefits to the wider community.
