Bandung, 25 February 2026 – Approaching Ramadan, Insan Bumi Mandiri (IBM) together with Muslim Aid Australia (MAA) International distributed food aid packages to 100 vulnerable residents in Yogyakarta. Overall, MAA distributed 2,000 food aid packages in four other regions besides Yogyakarta, such as Lombok, Bima, Sikka and Bandung.
This distribution is carried out to help meet the food needs of orphans, the elderly, people with disabilities and underprivileged families during the holy month of Ramadan. To adapt needs to the assistance provided, MAA International through IBM categorizes types of assistance into two, namely Orphan/Disability/Elderly (ODE) and OG for vulnerable communities in need. The food aid package contains rice, wheat flour, sugar, sardines, oil, corned beef and milk.
“Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful to be part of the distribution of this aid. Assistance like this is very meaningful for them, especially before Ramadan when household needs usually increase. Many of the beneficiaries have been living with limitations, and the presence of assistance from MAA and IBM makes them feel that they are not alone,” said Mrs. Tuti, a volunteer from Yogyakarta.
The IBM team and field volunteers carried out distribution using two methods, including gathering beneficiaries and visiting the homes of certain beneficiaries directly. This step was taken to reach beneficiaries such as the elderly and people with disabilities who find it difficult to leave their homes and make it impossible to attend distribution locations. This is due to the difficulty of access to several houses which are not easy to pass. One of the beneficiary communities for people with disabilities reached in Yogyakarta is the Jogja Hydrowarior Community.
During the visit, the field team witnessed many emotional moments, especially seeing the condition of the beneficiaries in their homes. In one house, two disabled siblings were cared for by a family member who was also a child. This condition is a real view of the challenges faced by some families in remote areas of the country.

“Thank you MAA, I am very grateful and I am very happy to receive assistance from MAA, I hope MAA will be more successful,” said Ahmad Aslam, an 11 year old disabled beneficiary.
This assistance is a form of Muslim solidarity from Australia and other countries, as well as concern and hope ahead of the month of Ramadan. Hopefully every food aid package received can meet daily needs, as well as a sense of calm and blessings for more people in need in various remote areas.
