Abdul Hakim Machfudz emphasized the commitment of Tebuireng in maintaining the tradition of the Koran of the Book of Sahih Bukhari and Muslims who had been passed down by the founder of the pesantren, Hadratussyaikh KH. Hasyim Asy’ari. The mandate was conveyed when closing the activity Nasyrussanad at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School Mosque, which was attended by Para Mujaz From various boarding schools in East Java, Friday (7/25/2025).

“Alhamdulillah, the 13th day we have finished. It feels relieved. This is like a restaurant with many menus, and the main menu is the book of Bukhari and Muslims. This is usually brought by Hadratussyaikh during the month of Ramadan,” Yai Kikin said in his remarks.

He explained, in the past Hadratussyaikh read and explained the hadith not only during Ramadan, but often began even before Ramadan. Within a day, the Hadith Koran can be done from morning, afternoon, evening, until night, sometimes even until 1:00 in the morning. Even so, the Book of Sahih Bukhari still cannot be finished in one Ramadan and usually only khatam in two Ramadan. The Sahih Muslims are usually completed in one month of Ramadan.

“If now, we just read it. Because the mujaz comes from the pesantren and each participant has recited individually. Here it is only to connect sanad,” he continued.

This tradition continues to be maintained in Tebuireng, although the current santri vacation pattern has changed. If in the past the students remained in the pesantren until before Lebaran, now most have returned from 17-20 Ramadan. Therefore, the reading of the book begins earlier.

This activity is at the same time part of the Nasyrus Sanad program implemented by Rabithah Ma’ahid Islamiyah (RMI) PBNU on the direct orders of the PBNU Chairperson, KH. Yahya Cholil Staquf. The purpose of this program is to disseminate and connect the Sanad reading of the hadith to more boarding schools throughout Indonesia.

“PBNU hopes that this program can continue to develop. Today 52 pesantren will be connected. Later, please connect to other pesantren. God willing, it will continue to expand, hopefully it can reach all of Java, Madura, even Indonesia,” he said.

KH. Abdul Hakim also stressed the importance of maintaining scientific sanad in the midst of a very fast change. He said that maintaining this sanad is part of al-Muhafadhotu ‘ala al-Qadimis Shalih, which is to maintain a good and noble scientific tradition.

“Hopefully our sanad will continue to be connected to the ancestors, the auliya, the kiai, to the Prophet Sallallaahu alaihi wasallam. Hopefully we all gather with them, “he said.
