MAA International and IBM Provide Basic Needs Assistance for 100 Orphans in Giri Madia Village

West Lombok, 22 November 2025 – A total of 100 orphans in Giri Madia Village, Lingsar District, West Lombok Regency, received humanitarian assistance through a collaborative program between MAA International and Insan Bumi Mandiri (IBM). The activity, which was centered at TPQ Asy-Syifa, provided a series of integrated support which included the distribution of food packages, hygiene packs, pairs of clothes, stationery, children’s toys, and free health checks.

This distribution was carried out as part of the two institutions’ efforts to strengthen social protection for orphaned children in areas that still have limited basic services. In the process, volunteers and local assistant staff are directly involved to ensure that aid is distributed on target, as well as opening up a space for warmer interaction between the children and the facilitators.

MAA International itself is a global humanitarian organization that focuses on improving the quality of life of vulnerable communities through emergency assistance, education, health and community empowerment programs. Meanwhile, Insan Bumi Mandiri (IBM) is an Indonesian philanthropic institution committed to developing and empowering remote villages through a sustainable empowerment approach. This collaboration is an important step to provide more equitable access to the basic needs of children who have lost one or both parents.

“This distribution is the second collaboration with Muslim Aid Australia (MAA) International. Thank God, The Insan Bumi Mandiri team in Lombok was trusted again to distribute 100 packages. “The hope is that this activity will further strengthen the relationship between the two institutions, and will definitely be beneficial for the children who receive this package,” said Zulfa Faizah, Director of Insan Bumi Mandiri.

In the field, volunteers show strong emotional involvement. Iwan Suryadi, a volunteer who has led the distribution of aid since this morning, said that activities like this have been something he has been involved in for a long time. “I have been involved in social activities for a long time, but every time I meet children like this, it always feels different. They live with many limitations, so packages ranging from food, clothing, to hygiene and school supplies, are actually basic needs that they really need,” he said.

He also emphasized the importance of health services in this activity. “They rarely get health checks, including dental checks. So seeing them being able to be checked one by one, makes us all hope that they can grow up healthier and more confident,” he added.

Meanwhile, Zulkarnaen, Head of the Foundation and accompanying teacher from TPQ Asy-Syifa, gave testimony regarding the condition of his students. “Many of these children come from families who are truly deprived. They rarely receive special attention, let alone comprehensive assistance like this. When they received the aid package, we teachers felt very moved. It felt like a burden had been lifted,” he explained. He also added that this activity had a positive psychological impact on children.

This activity also shows how the synergy of international organizations and local institutions can open up wider space for change for vulnerable communities in Indonesia. MAA International and Insan Bumi Mandiri hope that this activity can encourage more parties to collaborate and expand the reach of humanitarian programs in the future.
